TREES CAN WALK?
There’s a species of palm trees, Socratea exorrhiza, that can grow new roots to ‘sidestep’ its way to better soil. And not just a little sidestep, either! These mobile trees can travel about 20 metres a year. 🤯
DO YOU SEE ELEPHANTS IN THE CLOUDS?
Watch your head! According to scientists, the weight of the average cumulus cloud is 1.1 million pounds! This means that at any given moment, there are millions of pounds of water floating above your head. That’s the equivalent of 100 elephants!
WALKING ON AIR?
Optical Illusion uses color, light and patterns to create images that can trick our brains. The information gathered by the eye is processed by the brain, creating a perception that doesn’t match reality. Pretty trippy, huh? Share us some of your optical illusion photos!
WHEN EYE SEE RED, STOP.
Why is the stop traffic light red? The colour red has the longest wavelength: 740 – 620 nm. That means red is visible from the farthest distance. By being a warm colour, it stimulates the nerves. It is also the colour of blood and spells danger, hence “STOP”.
Is that a bird? Is that a plane? It’s a drone! Inspired by the tiny and fast hummingbird, the drones mimic the wing flaps as well as their small bodies. Drones are used for emergency responses, the military, agriculture and many more. Like if you’ve tried flying a drone before!
